Four socially relevant one-act plays themed on healthy living were staged by local theatre groups in a drama contest organised by SPEAK India (Society for Promotion of Ethical and Affordable Health Care) at Tagore Theatre here today.
The event was designed to create awareness about healthy life and curb rampant misuse of prescription medicines. SPEAK India president R Kumar maintained that most of the common ailments as well as serious ailments like heart disease, diabetes, blood pressure, strokes, cancers etc. could be prevented by simple health tips.
The plays staged include 'Jab Jago Tab Savera' by the Impact Arts on Obesity, 'Blue Whale' by Alankrit Group advocated for simple diet and
avoiding overuse of mobile and TV. Amritsar Natak Kala Kendra with 'Mitti Kare Rudan' denounced use of intoxicant drugs while play 'Shradha' by the Theatre for People inspired all for donation of limbs.
Punjabi play 'Mitti Rudan Karey' was given the 'Shri Ram Murti Aggarwal Memorial Running Trophy' for the best play. SPEAK India secretary Dr SK Punia conducted the competition.
