Mohali: The Mohali police arrested a proclaimed offender (PO), who had been absconding in a kidnapping and vehicle theft case of 2014, on Saturday.



Mohali: The Mohali police arrested a proclaimed offender (PO), who had been absconding in a kidnapping and vehicle theft case of 2014, on Saturday.

According to the police, the accused has been identified as Janakraj, a resident of Gurdaspur. Police said Janakraj, along with accomplices, had snatched a Ford Endeavor car in Phase-5 from Harinder Singh, a kharar resident. The miscreants had also kidnapped one Mandeep Singh.

The police had registered a case under Sections 365 (kidnapping), 382 (Theft after preparation made for causing death, hurt or restraint in order to the committing of the thef), 148 (Rioting, armed with deadly weapon), 149 (Every member of unlawful assembly guilty of offence committed in prosecution of common object) of IPC against Gurvinder Singh, Pala, Janakraj and four unknown persons in this case. — TNS
