Panchkula, June 24

A local court today sent Mandeep, alias Mani, a mastermind in the prisoner’s escape from the Panchkula Civil Hospital, to four-day police remand here.

Police officials said they would try to find out the whereabouts of Deepak Kumar from him and recover the motorcycle, pistols, bullets and the spray that Mandeep had supplied.

An engineering student and member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, Mandeep has three attempt-to-murder and robbery cases registered against him in Chandigarh.

It is to be noted that on June 17 three armed men fired into the air, used pepper spray on the hospital staff and the police and freed Deepak from the police custody at the General Hospital, Sector 6, here.
