Panjab University (PU) community radio station Jyotirgamaya 91.2 MHz celebrated its seventh anniversary today by recording audio books for visually impaired students of the varsity. World Radio Day also falls today.
The PU community radio has been recording audio books for visually impaired students free of cost. Student volunteers record the books given by visually impaired students, and after sound editing, the recordings are handed over to them. An audio documentary and drama competition was also held on the occasion.
PU VC Arun Grover said, “I am very happy to learn that Radio Jyotirgamaya 91.2 MHz has completed seven years.”
Chairperson, School of Communication Studies and Coordinator of PU Radio, Archana R Singh said, “We have produced a number of broadcasters from this radio station. Discipline, respect for deadlines, techniques of radio production, anchoring, research are some of the professional aspects they learn.”
