A team of Enactus SSBUICET (Dr Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar University Institute of Chemical Engineering and Technology) comprising 75 members from Panjab University bagged a trophy for its two projects — ‘Sambhav’ and ‘Unnati’.

While project ‘Sambhav’ aims at eliminating beggary, which is one of the greatest concerns, by providing respectable jobs to those involved in the practice and imparting education to children, the motive behind ‘Unnati’ is to empower the unemployed youth and rural women by imparting vocational training in mobile handset repair, field technician computing and sewing. Panjab University made it to the list of top 24. Of all, top four finalists were selected on the basis of an extensive evaluation of the team’s projects and a 17-minute presentation followed by question answers. Enactus team also won the second runners-up prize of Rs 75,000. Enactus India National Competition is one of the most anticipated events of the year. This nerve-racking competition was held in Mumbai.

As many as 160 teams had applied for the initial online screening round this year, out of which top 24 were shortlisted and invited to Mumbai for finals.
