Rape case: Cops still groping in the dark

CHANDIGARH:Even five days after a 12-year-old girl student of a government school was raped at Children Traffic Park in Sector 23 here, the police are still groping in dark.

Chandigarh, August 20

Even five days after a 12-year-old girl student of a government school was raped at Children Traffic Park in Sector 23 here, the police are still groping in dark.

DSP (Central) Ram Gopal said they were questioning the suspects in the case.

“Suspects are being questioned everyday to get through the case,” the DSP said.

The girl was waylaid and raped at knife-point by a middle-aged man, suspected to be a drug addict, at Children Traffic Park in Sector 23 here on August 15.

The dump data of mobile towers is also being analysed to get a clue in the case.

Sources said various drug addicts in the area had also been questioned by the police. However, nothing came to the fore.

Even after scrutinising footage of various CCTV cameras, the police have failed to get any lead in the case.  — TNS
