High drama was witnessed at the District Courts complex this evening after a rape victim beat up the accused in full public view.

The duo was in talks about reaching a compromise in an advocate’s chamber when the victim asked the accused to marry her. The 38-year-old man refused, saying she had already ruined his life. He allegedly also touched her forehead while pointing towards her as he said so.

This reportedly infuriated the woman, who now started arguing with him and moved out of the chamber. There, she started beating him up asking him why he touched her.

What ensued was a full public beating of the man as around 50 advocates and notaries gathered there.

The accused called the police and two policemen reached the spot. Showing his injuries and torn clothes to the police, he said he wanted to register a complaint after getting his medical examination conducted.

However, till the filing of this report, the police did not receive any complaint. They have already lodged a daily diary report and are investigating the matter.

The woman had filed a rape complaint against the man on August 29, 2017. She had alleged that he raped her on the pretext of marriage for four to five months.

The trial in the case is on and the chief examination of the victim has already been conducted.
