CHANDIGARH:Reliance Industries beat Tripathi Sports Club, Delhi, by eight wickets in a rain-truncated match at the ongoing All-India JP Atray Cricket Tournament here today.

Reliance Industries beat Tripathi Sports Club, Delhi, by eight wickets in a rain-truncated match at the ongoing All-India JP Atray Cricket Tournament here today. 

Batting first at Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 26, Tripathi Club were struggling on 96/6 in 26 overs when the rain stopped play. 

Ankush Tyagi (28) and Rahul Yadav (22) made vital contributions to the Tripathi Club total, while for Reliance Industries, Kartik Tyagi claimed three wickets. 

After the play resumed, Reliance were set a revised target of 85 runs in 20 overs. The side lost opener Shubman Gill for naught, but Akshdeep Nath  and Nikhil Malik ensured that the side reach home safely.  

Nath scored an unbeaten 48, while Malik hit a 14-ball 24 as Reliance industries gathered four points from their opening match. 

Tripathi Sports Club, meanwhile, crashed out of the championship after facing second successive defeat. The side had yesterday lost to Minerva Academy by 83 runs.

Earlier in the day, Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) shared two points with ONGC. 

Batting first, HPCA lost opener P Khandoori on eight runs. Shubham Arora and Sumit Verma then added 89 runs for the second wicket to provide stability to the HPCA innings. 

The duo was separated when Verma was dismissed by Vikramjit Malik for run-a-ball 53. 

Arora was batting 42, while Paras Dogra was unbeaten on 7 when rain forced the end of play.


Katoch Shield final: Patiala fight back  

Mohali: Chasing a mammoth 599-run first innings Jalandhar total, Patiala aided by impressive centuries from Jiwanjot and Prabhjot Singh ended the rain-interrupted third day's play of their final match of the Punjab Inter-District Cricket Championship for Katoch Shield at 372/2. Resuming at overnight 6/0 at the IS Bindra PCA Satdium here, Jiwanjot and Prabhjot raised 267 runs for the opening wicket before the latter was dismissed on 112. Jiwanjot, together with Sanveer Singh, added another 80 runs for the second wicket. The opener finally fell on 180 runs with the team total reading 347. Sanveer and Anmolpreet Singh then stretched the total to 372 before the umpires called off the day's play. On Thursday, Jalandhar had rode on skipper Taruwar Kohli’s double ton to score 599/8. Himanshu Sharma and Pargat Singh also scored centuries for the side. — TNS
