“You are the future of a new India and now the time has come to repay back to society in the form of new ideas and technologies that you will develop to address the national and local issues using the education and knowledge that you have accumulated.”

This was stated by UT Administrator VP Singh Badnore while speaking at the second annual convocation of Chandigarh University in Gharuan.

He conferred degrees on as many as 746 graduate and postgraduate engineering students and felicitated 15 university toppers with gold medals.

While delivering his convocation address to the students, Badnore advised the students to choose entrepreneurship rather than look for jobs. He said, “India requires job providers rather than job seekers and with the government encouraging the youth to come forward with new ideas, it is high time that universities in the country prepare the next generation of entrepreneurs for India.”

He said, “The convocation marks an important day in the lives of students as it is a significant milestone in their journey.”

The Governor advised the university to create an endowment fund where the alumni could contribute through money and other resources can be utilised to provide new research opportunities to the next batch of students.

Satnam Singh Sandhu, Chancellor, Chandigarh University, said: “We are committed to churning out not only professionals for the industry but good human beings also who can become an asset for society and contribute richly with their experience and knowledge.”

He said, “It is easy for the universities to produce just the degree holders, but difficult to make students employable and we at Chandigarh University are delighted to be successful in this endeavour.”
