Residents of village Kumbhra burnt effigies of Mohali administration, Mayor and their two MC councilors under protest at the village on Saturday morning.

The demand of the protestors was to reconstruct the ring road of the village, which is in dilapidated condition. “The ring road is full of pits, open drains, and without concrete at several places. Due to the poor condition of the road, accidents have become a routine affair and the two-wheeler riders are the most vulernable here,” said the protesters.

Local resident Balwinder Singh Kumbhra, president of ‘Atyachar Te Bhrishtachar Virodhi Front’ said the residents were fed up with the lethargic approach of the administration and local MC towards their problems.

“On Saturday, we burnt the effigy of the Mohali administration, the Mayor and our two councillors in protest,” said Balwinder Singh.

“Our demand is reconstruct the ring road before start of monsoon, here,” said the protesters. — TNS
