Two Activa-borne miscreants looted Rs 25,000 at knife-point from a pedestrian near Kala Gram, Mani Majra, on the intervening night of July 3 and 4. The PCR staff later intercepted the scooter and rounded up one person. However, the police said the victim did not identify him as one of the accused.
Sources said Sandeep Kumar, a resident of Mani Majra, reported that miscreants riding a silver Activa snatched Rs 25,000, a mobile phone and an ATM card from him at knife-point while he was going home. The accused then escaped from the spot. The incident was reported around 12.40 am.
The police were informed, who rushed to the spot. Police Control Room (PCR) teams started patrolling the area.
The sources said around an hour later, a Police Control Room vehicle intercepted a silver Activa near Govindpura, Mani Majra.
While one person managed to escape from the spot on the scooter, the PCR staff managed to apprehend another one, identified as Dalip.
The police said the complainant stated that Dalip was not among the miscreants who snatched his cash and belongings.
The police have registered a case under Sections 379, 356 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code in this regard at the Mani Majra police station.
Robbed, but snatching case registered
Though the victim was robbed at knife-point, the police have registered a case of snatching. Despite repeated attempts, Inspector Ranjit Singh, Station House Officer, Mani Majra, could not be contacted for comments.
