A sum of Rs 3 crore was recovered from a car near the Lakhnour petrol station on the Kharar–Kurali highway.
According to reports, a special police naka had been laid in view of the assembly elections. On searching a car, the police recovered the amount in the form of Rs 2,000, Rs 500 and Rs 100 notes. The man in the car, Satbir Singh, claimed that he was the manager of a cooperative bank in Hoshiarpur.
The police said the suspect could not produce proper documents for the cash being carried in the vehicle. The matter was reported to the income tax authorities.
