The work of laying sewerage system in Fatehgarh Sahib and Sirhind started today as MLA Kuljeet Singh Nagra inaugurated 1,300-metre main sewerage pipeline from Sirhind city to the Municipal Council office.
He said the state government has sanctioned Rs 98 crore for laying 104-km sewerage pipelines in Sirhind and Fatehgarh Sahib, whereas the SAD government had diverted the funds sanctioned for this project to ‘Sangat Darshan’ programmes and the project was stalled, but now Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh had sanctioned the amount to complete the project in a year. He said three sewer treatment plants will also be installed and treated water will be used for the irrigation purpose.
He said after lying the pipelines, all streets and roads would be recarpeted and the project for installing LED lights would also be initiated soon. He directed the officials of the Sewerage Board to ensure quality and to complete the work in time.
