Panchkula, March 22

While the police have hit a dead end in the abduction and rape case of a 21-year-old engineering student on January 17, they have announced a reward of Rs 1 lakh for information on the accused.

The police released a sketch of the accused on January 25 and also recovered the victim’s car that was used in the crime. However, the police are clueless about the identity and the whereabouts of the accused.

The police say an important factor was that the accused did not have a mobile phone due to which he could not be traced. The police had suspected many people, including a Nabha jailbreak accused, but hit a dead end.

Sources said the accused might be the same person who had earlier murdered a person and was still absconding as even he did not have a mobile phone.

On the night of January 17, a 21-year-old engineering student of Chitkara University, Rajpura, was abducted in her car from the Sector 20 market by an unknown person.

She was allegedly drugged, stripped, videographed and raped before the accused fled with her car, purse, mobile phone and other belongings.
