Sampark centres to have Rs 500 cash limit

CHANDIGARH:Sampark centres will not accept a cash payment of over Rs 500 for depositing electricity and water bills, besides fees for works of different departments from February 1 as the Administration has reduced the cash acceptance limit.

Sampark centres will not accept a cash payment of over Rs  500  for depositing electricity and water bills, besides fees for works of different departments from  February 1 as the Administration has reduced the cash acceptance limit.

Sources said the Finance Department issued directions in this regard  to the Sampark centres   today.   Earlier, the Administration had  fixed a limit  of Rs 2,000 for cash  payment  in  August  2017. Over 40 types of fee are accepted at the Sampark centres. The Administration has taken the decision to promote digital payment. 

An officer of a Sampark centre said sufficient number of POS machines had been placed at the 42 Sampark centres where residents could deposit payments through debit or credit cards. — TNS
