MOHALI: In view of the bandh call, all educational institutes will remain closed in Mohali district on Monday.

In view of the bandh call, all educational institutes will remain closed in Mohali district on Monday.

“The educational institutes will remain closed, while the public transport services will remain suspended here,” said Mohali Deputy Commissioner Gurpreet Kaur Sapra.

Besides, the mobile Internet services, SMS and all dongle services provided on mobile networks except voice calls in the district will remain suspended till 11 pm on Monday.

The police will make special security arrangements in the district to maintain law and order.

Mohali SSP Kuldeep Singh Chahal said they had got an extra force of 300 personnel from the headquarters. “As part of the arrangements, special nakas will be set up at all sensitive points. Besides, district police personnel will also be deputed at different locations to keep a strict vigil on Monday,” said Chahal.

The SSP and the Deputy Commissioner said peaceful protests would be allowed.

“We have appointed 10 duty magistrates to deal with any situation here. Our teams will remain on their toes in the district,” said Sapra.

Mobile Internet services suspended in dist

The public transport services will remain suspended in Mohali. Besides, the mobile Internet services, SMS and all dongle services provided on mobile networks except voice calls in the district will remain suspended till 11 pm on Monday.

All four AKSIPS branches closed

All four branches of AKSIPS (Sector 41 and 45 in Chandigarh and Sector 65 and 125 in Mohali) will remain closed on Monday due to the bandh call. According to the school management, the new session for 2018-19 will now start on April 4.

School bus services to remain suspended in UT

Chandigarh: The school bus services will remain suspended in Chandigarh in view of the bandh call in Punjab. The president of the Bus Operators Association, Manjeet Singh, said keeping in view the security of students, buses will not ferry them on Monday. “The security of students is paramount for us. It has been  unanimously decided that buses will not ferry students on Monday,” said Manjeet Singh. TNS

Train services to operate

Chandigarh: Train services will remain operational despite the call for a countrywide strike by various political and social organisations. The public relations officer of the Railways said the train services would not be suspended. Extra force has been deployed at the Ludhiana railway station and the surrounding areas following reports that protesters may try to stop the Amritsar-Chandigarh and the Ferozepur-Chandigarh trains.
