Scooterist, biker killed in hit-&-run cases

CHANDIGARH: Two hit-and-run cases have been reported from the city.

Chandigarh, April 26

Two hit-and-run cases have been reported from the city. While a scooterist died in an accident last night, a motorcyclist lost his life on the night of April 24.

Sources said 40-year-old Vijay Kumar, who worked as a security guard at a private school, died in a hit-and-run after the scooter he was riding was hit by an unidentified auto. The accident took place on the road separating Sectors 33 and 45 when the victim was returning home to Burail in Sector 45.

The injured was rushed to the GMCH, Sector 32, where he was declared brought dead. In another case, a motorcyclist was killed after an unidentified car hit him on the road separating Sectors 37 and 38. The accident took place on April 24 night.

The complainant in the case, Gurinder Singh, a resident of Kharar, reported that he was returning home on his motorcycle while his brother Devinder Singh was on another motorcycle.

On reaching the road separating Sectors 37 and 38, an unknown car hit his brother and sped away.

The victim rushed to the PGI in a PCR vehicle, where doctors declared him brought dead.
