The police have booked a Sector 37 resident on the complaint of an Excise and Taxation officer for cheating a club by providing it a fake liquor licence.
According to the police, Ramesh Chand Bhateja, Excise and Taxation officer, UT Excise and Taxation Department, had submitted a complaint against Ajmer Singh, a resident of Sector 37.
Inspector Zahid Parvez Khan, SHO, Industrial Area police station, said it is alleged that the accused had cheated Sunny Sayal and his partners M/s Mavricks Gastronomy, Plot No. 24, Phase I, Industrial Area, by providing them fake liquor licence.
“The accused, who is an employee of a leading hotel in Chandigarh, had assured the victims that he will get liquor licence for their club on a daily basis. However during the checking, excise officials found that the licence was fake,” the SHO said.
A case under Sections 417, 465, 468 and 471 of the IPC has been registered.
