Chandigarh: Dr BR Ambedkar Centre, Panjab University, Chandigarh, organised a two-day national seminar sponsored by the ICSSR-North Western Region on the functioning of panchayati raj institutes in India with emphasis on north western region on Monday.



Chandigarh: Dr BR Ambedkar Centre, Panjab University, Chandigarh, organised a two-day national seminar sponsored by the ICSSR-North Western Region on the functioning of panchayati raj institutes in India with emphasis on north western region on Monday. Om Prakash Dhankar, Minister of Agriculture, Development and Panchayats, Mines and Geology, Haryana, in his inaugural address on "Haryana's movement towards a capable, educated and prosperous panchayati raj" emphasised on the vision of Dr Ambedkar and the fact that his contribution could never be measured. Satya Pal Jain, Additional Solicitor General of India, stressed on the importance of participation of youth in discussing and developing ideas for the growth of the panchayati raj institutions in the nation.

Ethics in performing arts

Chandigarh: A one-day national workshop on ethics in performing arts, "Kala Sangam", sponsored by the College Development Council, Panjab University, Chandigarh, was held on Monday at the PGGCG-42, Chandigarh. The workshop was the combined initiative of the departments of Music (V), Music (I), Dance and Fine Arts. College principal Binu Dogra presented the introductory note and welcomed the guests and the participants. The chief guest at the workshop, BL Sharma, IAS, Education Secretary, Chandigarh Administration, highlighted the importance of ethics and dharma in the performing arts for the progress of human civilization in today's world. Rakesh Kumar Popli, PCS, Director Higher Education, Chandigarh Administration, was the guest of honour.

Festejo Literaria at PGGC 11

Chandigarh: Festejo Literaria, a literary cultural event, was organised by the Postgraduate Department of English PGGC-11, on Monday. The event was a cultural potpourri comprising music, dance and poetry. Young aspirants engaged all with their jaw-dropping performances. Vivek bagged the title of Mr Adonis, the Greek god of charm; and Ishita bagged the title of Miss Cleopatra, the queen of beauty. Pawan and Diksha were crowned as Mr and Ms Charismatic. TNS
