Kumari Shibi claimed a five-wicket haul as Guru Gobind Singh College for Women (Sector 26) won the Panjab University inter-college cricket tournament by registering a nine-wicket win over MCM DAV College (Sector 36) today.
Batting first, MCM College were bundled out for a low total of 36 runs in 11 overs. Isha (22) and Shivani (14) got to double figures. Shibi claimed 5/5, while Aditi Aryan (2/12) and Parul Saini (2/6) took two wickets each for the side.
In reply, the Sector 26 team posted 40/1 in 3.5 overs with the help of Nadini Sharma (27). Jyoti Kumari claimed the only wicket for the bowling side.
Dev Samaj College (Sector 45) claimed the third position by logging a one-run win over KCW College (Ludhiana). Batting first, the local outfit scored 93/7 in 20 overs.
Suneha (29) was the top-scorer, with Nisha Das (14) and Divya Rana (11) making valuable contributions for the side. Pawinderjeet Kaur (2/13) was the top wicket-taker, while Amandeep Kaur (1/25) and Tenderjit Kaur (1/14) took one wicket each.
In reply, the Ludhiana team scored 92/4 in the allotted 20 overs. Priyanka Kumari and Palwinder Kaur contributed 40 runs each in the chase. Anita, Suneha Thakur and Anjali Dhiman took one wicket each for the bowling side.
