Singers Ankit Tiwari, Gippy Grewal to perform

CHANDIGARH: Bollywood singer Ankit Tiwari and Punjabi singers Gippy Grewal and Kulwinder Billa will enthrall visitors during the musical nights at the 46th Rose Festival to be held at Rose Garden in Sector 16 here from February 23 to 25.

Bollywood singer Ankit Tiwari and Punjabi singers Gippy Grewal and Kulwinder Billa will enthrall visitors during the musical nights at the 46th Rose Festival to be held at Rose Garden in Sector 16 here from February 23 to 25.

Kulwinder Billa, Gippy Grewal and Ankit Tiwari will perform on from February 23, 24 and 25, respectively.

Addressing a press conference today, Mayor Davesh Moudgil said about 42,000 plants of 829 varieties of roses would be displayed during the fest. Visitors could enjoy chopper ride for Rs 2,380 per person. There will be a provision of insurance worth Rs 50 lakh.

MC Commissioner Jitender Yadav said people could also download an app on the Rose Festival to know more about rose varieties and the event.

He said the three-day event would see various competitions, including best garden/roundabout/campus parks maintained by RWAs, brass and pipe band competition, on-the-spot painting, quiz, folk dance competition, photography contest, ‘antakshri’ and kite-flying competition. Besides, there would be contests on Rose Prince and Rose Princess, Miss Rose & Mr Rose, floral hat display and Rose King & Rose Queen (Senior Citizens) etc.

Kite-flying will be a special event this time. Professional fliers from Ahmedabad will be attending the event with kites of different colours, sizes and shapes. There will also be a workshop on kite making.
