The police nabbed a 25-year-old youth for snatching a mobile phone yesterday. The accused has been identified as Gurpreet Singh, alias Prince, a resident of Morinda.
The police said the accused claimed to work as a plumber. Police sources said on Tuesday, the accused had snatched a mobile phone from Roshan Kumar, a native of Jalandhar, who stays in a rented accommodation at Shahi Majra.
A police official said Roshan, who works at a call centre here, had disembarked at a bus stop and had barely walked a hundred yard, when the accused came on a motorcycle and snatched his mobile phone and sped away.
The police said the accused was arrested from Ranbaxy Laboratories Limited in the Industrial Area.
A police official said three mobile phones were recovered from him and it is suspected that the motorcycle he was riding was also stolen.
A complaint has been registered under Section 379-B (theft) of the IPC at the Phase I police station.
The accused was produced in the court, which sent him to one-day police remand.
