Snatchers’ gang busted, 3 held

mohali: The police on Saturday claimed to have busted a gang of snatchers with the arrest of three youths.



mohali: The police on Saturday claimed to have busted a gang of snatchers with the arrest of three youths.

The accused, identified as Sukhwinder Singh, Manjot Singh and Amandeep Singh, are allegedly involved in several incidents of robbing vehicles and snatching mobile phones. The police have recovered one white Maruti Alto car, a Maruti Swift car and a mobile phone from their possession.

Sukhwinder Singh hails from Kainor near Morinda while Manjot Singh and Amandeep are from Boor Majra in Morinda. 

The police said the accused were around 22 to 23 years of age. They were unemployed and had committed snatchings in Kharar, Mohali and Chandigarh recently.

A case under Section 379 B of the IPC has been registered against them. The police said further investigations were on to nab their accomplices, if any.

The investigating officer said Manjot and Sukhwinder were nabbed from a naka near the Godrej factory in Industrial Area, Amandeep was arrested from Badh Majra.

The accused were produced in court and sent to police remand for three days. “The accused used to frequently change vehicles to avoid arrest,” the investigating officer said.—TNS
