Sonu, Rahul win 1500m gold

CHANDIGARH: Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 18, athlete Sonu clocked 5.54:47s to win the first position in the girls 1500m race (U-17) on the opening day of Inter-school Athletics Meet at Sector 7 sports complex.

Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 18, athlete Sonu clocked 5.54:47s to win the first position in the girls 1500m race (U-17) on the opening day of Inter-school Athletics Meet at Sector 7 sports complex. Smriti Sangwan of St Stephen's School, Sector 45, claimed the second position with a timing of 6.03:31s. Rakhi of Government Girls Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 18, finished third with a timing of 6.08:93s.

In the shot put event, Khushi Rana of PML SD Public School, Sector 32, claimed the first position with a throw of 10.18m. Nandini Singh (7.90m) bagged the second position. Anmoldeep Kaur (7.85m) finished third.

In the girls U-19 category, Dimple of Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 18, won the gold medal in the 1500m race with a timing of 6.02:81s. Kalpana of Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 56, claimed the second position (6.04:75s) while Kalsah of Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 18, finished third (6.08:34s). In the 100m dash, Navya Singh of Carmel Convent School, Sector 9, clocked 13.97s to win the first prize. Sanskriti Gera of St Soldier's School, Sector 28, claimed the second spot (14.28s) while Pallawi Gautam of the same school (14.97s) finished third. Shamita Yadav of Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 19, won the gold medal in shot put event with a throw of 7.75m.  Shikha Thakur of St Soldier's School, Sector 28, finished second (7.72m) and Chitman of Government Senior Secondary School, Sector 45, claimed the third position (6.64m). Rahul of Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 23, won the 1500m race in the boys' U-19 category. He clocked 5.01:81s to win the title. In the girls (U-14) shot put event, Harleen of St Anne's School, Sector 32, claimed the first position with a throw of 7.94m while Nishtha (7.01m)  finihsed second.
