An all-round performance by Gitank Niranjan helped Narinder Walia Cricket Academy (NWCA) beat Sarvhitkari Cricket Academy by nine runs and clinch the Junior Cricket Tournament title at St. Soldier's School here today.
Niranjan scored an unbeaten 33 to propel NWCA to 167/7 in 25 overs before claiming 3/34 to restrict Sarvhitkari boys to 158/8.
Earlier electing to bat, NWCA started off well with Vivek Gupta (52) and Sagar Sharma (47) making significant contributions to the total.
For the bowling side, Harshit claimed 2/31, while Sahib took 1/23.
In reply, Dhanraj struck a solid 86 to keep Sarvhitkari Academy in the hunt. But once he was out, NWCA tightened the noose around their opponents with Niranjan leading the attack with a spell of 3/37. Sagar Sharma returned with figures of 1/37 as Sarvhitkari were restricted to 158/8
Niranjan was named player of the match.
