Chandigarh, March 26

Aryan Arora overpowered Sarthak in a tough boys’ U-14 final qualifying round match of the STA-AITA Talent Series (TS-7) Tennis Championship at Chandigarh Club (Sector 1) here today. Arora lost the opening set 3-6 but managed to bounce back strongly to take the next two sets 6-2 6-2. Shubh defeated Aarav 6-0 6-4 and Samarbir Singh Sidhu blanked Jivaj Chawla 6-0 6-0.

In some other matches, Arayan beat Yuvan 6-1 6-0, Chituan defeated Karmanya 6-0 6-1 and Preet defeated Kartik 6-1 6-3. Veerinder won a tough tie against Ronav 3-6 6-1 7-6(3) and Arjun beat Ojas 6-4 7-6(1). In the final qualifying round of the boys’ U-16 category, Asav beat Rakshit 6-0 6-1 and Gurmehak eased past Navya 6-2 6-2. Saksham faced some resistance from Pranay before winning the match 6-4 4-6 6-3. —TNS
