MOHALI:Modern School, New Delhi, registered a 55-50 win over Moti Lal Nehru School of Sports, Rai, to win the IPSC Basketball Championship for Girls' U-19, which concluded at Yadavindra Public School, here today.

Modern School, New Delhi, registered a 55-50 win over Moti Lal Nehru School of Sports, Rai, to win the IPSC Basketball Championship for Girls' U-19, which concluded at Yadavindra Public School, here today. 

The team's five-point victory was fashioned by Ragini, who contributed 20 points to the total. 

Earlier in the semifinals, Moti Lal Nehru School beat Emerald Heights School, Indore, 72-48, with Nidhi shooting 36 points. 

In the second match, Modern School beat Welham Girl's School, Dehradun, 51-26. 

Emerald Heights School, Indore, finished third with a 37-31 win over Welham Girl's School. Isha and Divya scored 12 points each for the winners.

In the quarterfinals, Modern School drubbed Delhi Public School, Mathura, 43-13 with striker Ragini scoring 21 points. Rai School thumped Mody School, Lakshmangarh   (Rajasthan), 50-27. 

In the third quarterfinal, Emerald Heights School survived a scare from Daly Group of Schools, before moving into semifinals. The side won 33-32, with Divya scoring a maximum 19 points. 

Birla Balika Vidyapeeth, Pilani, meanwhile, bowed to Welham Girl's School, losing 31-60. Sarah scored 14 points for the winning team. 

Akshita Sharda of the hosts, Yadavindra Public School, Mohali, was named the most promising player of the tournament, while Nidhi Jaglan was awarded the highest scorer award.
