Chandigarh, November 16

Punjabi University, Patiala, beat Osmania University, Hyderabad, in the opening match of the All India Inter-University Baseball Championship here today. 

The Patiala boys started their campaign with a 4-1 win over their opponents. 

Kurukahetra University, meanwhile, registered a narrow 6-5 win over Jiwaji University, Gwalior, while RTM University, Nagpur, drubbed North Maharashtra University, Jalgaon, 14-6. RTM boys also beat University of Kerala 5-2. 

Bilaspur University got the better of University of Mumbai 4-2, while MDU, Rohtak, defeated Gurur Nanak Dev University, Amritsar (4-2).

In the women's category, MGS University, Bikaner, blanked Lucknow University 5-0. 

Osmania University eked a narrow 10-9 win against North Maharashtra University, while SP Pune University beat SGBA University, Amravati, 11-1. 

In the last match of the day, MDU, Rohtak, beat Lovely Professional University, Phagwara, 3-2.
