CHANDIGARH:Baljeet Kaur of Panjab University won the gold medal in the women's individual foil event during the 8th All India Inter-University Fencing Championship held here at the Panjab University Gymnasium Hall today.

Chandigarh, February 13

Baljeet Kaur of Panjab University won the gold medal in the women's individual foil event during the 8th All India Inter-University Fencing Championship held here at the Panjab University Gymnasium Hall today.

She defeated Radhika Awati of Anna University in the final.

Garmia of the host university and T Kabita of Guru Nanak Dev University (Amritsar) finished joint third place to win the bronze. 

In the women's individual sabre event, Anitha K of Kannur University (Kerala) won the gold medal. She  defeated Komalpreet of Punjabi University (Patiala) in the final. 

Rita Yadav and Himani Oli of the Panjab University bagged the bronze medal. 

The championship will conclude on Sunday.
