Punjab rout Chhattisgarh

Hockey Punjab trounced Chhattisgarh Hockey 15-1 in their Pool B encounter on the sixth day of the Hockey India 7th Sub Junior National Hockey Championship 2017 (Women) 'A' Division in Ramanathapuram, Tamil Nadu, today.

Punjab eves rode hat-tricks by skipper Rozy Bharati who and Kashish to steamroll their opponents. 

Rozy converted penalty corner attempts in the 6th, 11th and 15th minutes to complete her hat-trick. Kashish, who was responsible for the opening goal in the 3rd minute, meanwhile, struck in the 34th, 35th and 36th minutes of the game. 

She scored yet another goal in 55th minute to take her match tally to five goals.

Hockey Punjab was 11 goals ahead when Chhattisgarh converted their first goal via Laxmi Prajpati.

Punjab ended the match with goals by Baljeet Kaur (44th and 52nd minutes) and Pooja 63 minute to bag three points. 

Haryana triumph 

Hockey Haryana, meanwhile, made a light work of Karnataka, winning 12-1 in their Pool D match. 

Haryana girls were off to a great start with Deepika scoring in the 2nd minute of the match to put her team ahead. 

She then struck a hat-trick with successive goals in the 4th, 14th and 17th minutes of play. 

Sharmila Devi also scored three goals — 21st, 26th and 68th minutes, while Skipper Reet (3rd), Bharati Sahora (18th), Meenakshi (31st), Neelam (35th) and Anu (41st) added a goal each to the Haryana tally. Chandana J was the lone scorer for Hockey Karnataka, striking in the 46th minute of the match. 

Patiala outscored

In the last match on Sunday, Sports Authority of India had beat Hockey Patiala 2-1. Akanksha Shukla gave SAI the lead in the 24th minute. However, Patiala girls drew level in the 59th minute. 

The last few minutes saw some tense moments with both teams pressing hard for victory. 

However, SAI held their nerve to prevail with a 63rd minute goal by Anjna Dung Dung.
