Chandigarh, January 16

St Stephen’s School, Sector 45, held the draw of lots for 10 general category seats today. There are 225 seats for Class I at the school. A total of 184 students, including 14 from economically weaker sections (EWS), will join from the school’s preparatory wing. Twenty more seats will go to the EWS, six are for Christians and five are for the children of the school staff.

So, only 10 were left in open category and for that 262 applications had been received. As many as 26 students competed for one seat.

Parents were asking for the waiting list but the school had not prepared it. “All seats will be filed. There is a great demand. The waiting list gives a false hope,” said vice-principal Gerald Jacob.

Delhi Public School is holding its draw of lots on January 18. Strawberry Fields High School is holding it on January 22 and Bhavan Vidyalaya will hold it on January 20.

Date extended for EWS forms

The Education Department has extended the last date for the submission of EWS category forms to January 31. Earlier, it was January 15. “For administrative reasons, we have changed the last date,” said District Education Officer Anujit Kaur.
