With stepped-up security, Valentine’s Day passed off peacefully in the city with no major untoward incident reported. Nakas were laid across roads by the police to keep an eye on miscreants.

Close to 900 police personnel were deployed across the city. Police personnel were deployed at Sector 17, Sukhna Lake, outside Elante Mall, Panjab University and colleges in the city. Special focus was laid on Geri Route in Sector 10 and 11 where nakas were laid at four locations.

The movement of vehicles on Geri Route and the road opposite Government Museum, Sector 10, was restricted.

Swanky high-end cars with heart-shaped balloons tied to these were seen across Geri Route throughout the day.

Nakas were laid from 4 pm to 10 pm by the police. Parties from police stations patrolled markets from 11 am to 10 pm.

Balloon vendors were seen all across Geri Route and some places on Madhya Marg as well. However, those on Geri Route were asked to leave by the police since youngsters were stopping there to get pictures clicked.
