Stepping Stones Senior Secondary School, Sector 37, Chandigarh, observed World Health Day for creating awareness among students for staying fit and healthy. Students of Classes V and VI conducted a special assembly wherein a skit was performed on the benefits of healthy food and hazards of junk food. A yoga session was arranged for Classes I, II and III. Class IV students had a healthy break where they brought healthy and nutritious food items in their lunch boxes. A session on CPR and first aid was organised for Classes VII, VIII and IX students.
DAV-8, Panchkula
A seminar on the theme "Global Health" was held at DAV Senior Secondary Public School, Sector 8, Panchkula. Dr Sonia Gandhi, head, Department of Nutrition, and Dietetics, Fortis Hospital, Mohali, was the key-speaker at the seminar. She urged students to pave way to a healthy living by adopting a nutritious diet and a persistent workout regimen.
Ankur School, Chandigarh
A special session was organised for self-defense for girls of Classes IX and X at Ankur School, Sector 14, Chandigarh. Women police personnel of the Chandigarh Police taught different ways of self-defense to girl students of Ankur School so that they can protect themselves in uncomfortable circumstances. Principal Parminder Duggal thanked the Chandigarh Police and said such interesting sessions encourage self-confidence in girls.
St Soldier School, Mohali
The life history and achievements of Stephan Hawking was presented through a talk show conducted in the morning assembly by students of Class X.
