Chandigarh, April 11

A local court today ordered the arrest of a drunken driving accused while issuing non-bailable arrest warrants against another. The two were earlier granted bail in the case and had to appear before the Judge for a hearing.

Local resident Ashish Chauhan was penalised after he reached around two hours late for the hearing. The court ordered that he be arrested. The other accused did not turn up for the hearing. The court issued non-bailable warrants against him.

The courts here have been taking a strict view of drunken driving. The court of the Chief Judicial Magistrate had sent 33 convicts to one-month jail for drunken driving on Holi.
