Four juveniles flee from Snehalaya

Exposing chinks in the security at Snehalaya, a shelter home for destitute and abandoned children in Maloya, four juveniles managed to flee from there last night. 

The Maloya police have received a complaint and are looking into the matter.

Inspector Ram Rattan, SHO of the Maloya police station, said it was raining last night when the four boys, aged around 16 years, scaled the walls of the shelter home and fled. “The minors took advantage of the rain and escaped,” he said. 

The police said though security guards were present at the shelter home, they came to know about the incident in the morning. 

Sources said the staff of Snehalaya, after finding the boys missing, launched a search operation. However, failing to locate the inmates, they approached the police.

The SHO said they had initiated an investigation into the case and efforts were being made to trace the juveniles. “All of them hail from Uttar Pradesh,” the SHO said. 

The sources said search operations were carried out at the bus stand and the railway station.
