The Dev Samaj College for Women, Sector 45, celebrated its annual prize distribution function here on Tuesday.

College principal Pankaja Vashist welcomed the chief guest, Prof Neera Grover, former chairperson, Department of Music, SNDT, Mumbai. She also presented the annual college report highlighting the achievements of the faculty and the students.

The prize distribution function commenced with the soothing notes of the college prayer followed by the traditional lighting of the lamp.

As many as 287 students were awarded on the occasion for their academic as well as co-curricular achievements. Vandana of BA third year was awarded the Roll of Honour in Sports for winning the gold medal at the National Kickboxing Championship and for being selected for the Asian Kickboxing Championship. College Colour was awarded to 19 students for commendable performance in the youth festival and sports.

In the academic arena, Golden Certificate of Merit and Certificate of Merit were awarded to 43 and 62 students, respectively, for Academic Excellence in Panjab University exam 2016-17.

As many as 175 students were awarded for their performance in the Panjab University exams while 61 students were awarded for being the best in various co-curricular activities. Certificate of Appreciation was given to 47 students for their valuable contribution towards the activities of various clubs and societies of the college.

Shivani Midha of BCom third year was awarded the Student of the Year Award. As many as 38 scholarships were awarded to deserving students by faculty members and the Vimal Bhargava Charitable Trust.
