Uncertainty over disaffiliation of Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) and Bachelor of Computer Application (BCA) courses at Post Graduate Government College (PGGC), Sector 46, and DAV Management Institute has taken a toll over students’ studies.

On September 16, the Panjab University (PU) affiliation committee overruled inspection committee’s report and cancelled affiliation to DAV Institute of Management, Sector 10, for the first year on the grounds of lapses found.

Similarly, BBA-I and BCA-I of the PGGC, Sector 46, was cancelled due to delay in applying for the affiliation.

A member of the affiliation committee had stated that the college applied for the affiliation in August 2018, whereas, they should have applied for it by October 31, 2017.

“The committee cancelled the affiliation on grounds of non-payment of fee. However, we had already applied for the affiliation and paid the amount by October 31. The case is under consideration after we sent our clarification to the university. The mistake is on part of the university and not us,” said Deepshikha Gupta, Dean, PGGC, Sector 46.

One of the major lapses found at the DAV Management Institute was that it does not have a director. Still, no director has been appointed for the institute.

“We received the official intimation from the university on September 28. We sent a counter reply to the university explaining our case. We have also urged the affiliation and inspection committee to visit our institute anytime. There is uncertainty among students and teachers. The university should not play with students’ career,” said Principal, DAV College, Sector 10, who is the officiating in charge of the institute.

Meanwhile, classes are being held for MBA students at DAV Management Institute. Students of BBA and BCA are attending classes at the PGGC, Sector 46. Students are apprehensive over their future as uncertainty looms large with time.

“We are not able to concentrate on our studies due to the disaffiliation issue. What if the first semester of the course is disaffiliated? What will we do then? I can’t afford to lose an year now,” said a BBA first year student of the PGGC, Sector 46.
