Tarini Goyal and Mitali Saini scored two points each to share the lead on the opening day of the Chandigarh U-17 (Open and Girls) Chess Championship 2017 at St. Xavier's Senior Secondary School, Sector 44, here today.
Kashish Kaushal, Bhuvi Prabhakar, Japneet Kaur, Priya Mishra and Vishruti claimed a point each to finish the day in joint second place.
Anubhav Tuknayat, Jaspreet Singh, Ajay Kumar Yadav, Esh Gupta, Arnav Kushwaha, Vedant Joshi and Anhat Singh, meanwhile, shared the lead in the U-17 open category with 2½ points each.
Aditya Malhotra, Kritish Latawa, Prabhnoor Singh, Shaunak Chaudhary, Shaurya Chopra and Ankit Sharma were bunched together at second spot with two points each.
