MOHALI: The Mohali police have arrested a Tehsildar, Narinder Kumar, posted in Patiala, for allegedly firing shots into the air last night near his residence at Phase II here.

The Mohali police have arrested a Tehsildar, Narinder Kumar, posted in Patiala, for allegedly firing shots into the air last night near his residence at Phase II here.

Inspector Sukhwinder Singh, SHO of the Phase I police station, said Narinder Kumar had been arrested after registering a case against him under Sections 336 and 506 of the IPC.

“The Tehsildar was miffed with the behaviour of some youngsters staying as paying guests in his neighbourhood. He had a tiff with the youngsters last night and in a fit of rage, he fired three gunshots with his licensed revolver,” said the SHO.

The police have recovered the weapon. The Inspector said they would write to the authorities to cancel the arms licence of the Tehsildar, who also possessed a licensed 12 bore rifle.
