Third swine flu case reported

PATIALA:A third case of swine flu was reported in Patiala.

A third case of swine flu was reported in Patiala. A 37-year-old man from Nabha, Varinder Singh, has been tested positive for swine flu. He was rushed to the PGI, Chandigarh, where his condition is said to be stable. 

The first case reported was of a four-year-old girl from Rajpura, Himanshu Bansal. She tested positive for swine flu on July 23. She did not have any travel history and was also treated at the PGI, Chandigarh. She has recovered now and all her primary contacts have been provided with the tab Tamiflu. A second case was reported from Nabha after 65-year-old Karnail Singh tested positive for swine flu. The third case was also reported from Nabha.  

Patiala Civil Surgeon Dr Balwinder Singh said the Health Department had made adequate arrangements to ensure that the disease does not spread and all affected patients get the best of treatment. He informed that the department has issued guidelines to all the hospitals to make arrangements to meet the swine flu challenge and set up isolation wards. 

District epidemiologist Dr Gurmeet Singh informed that the remedies will be supplied to all institutions for the management and testing of H1N1 cases. 

“We are also preparing isolation wards to admit patients suffering from the virus. All arrangements at the local civil hospital have been made to deal with the situation,” he said.
