Mohali, March 12
The local police today arrested three youths on a charge of theft and recovered two motorcycles and seven mobile phones from their possession.
The accused have been identified as Sagar Kumar, Saahil Chhabra and Bhinder, all aged between 19 and 22.
The police said Sagar Kumar and Bhinder hailed from Muktsar Sahib while Saahil Chhabra was a native of Fazilka.
The duty officer, ASI Lakhvir Singh, said the trio, riding a bike, was held at a check-point near Shahi Majra.
“They tried to evade arrest, but were nabbed after a brief chase,” the police official said.
Police sources said the accused worked with the DBA company in the Industrial Area and were staying in Sante Majra.
The police said two motorcycles — a TVS (PB 28 B 4764) and a Honda CB Unicorn (PB 65 AD 1820) — were recovered from the accused.
The recovered mobile phones were MI Note 4, Oppo A83, Micromax A190 (black), Panasonic P55, Samsung J2 (golden), Micromax 426 (black) and Samsung J7 (golden). The police said the mobile phones had been snatched from different places in Mohali.
A police official said the accused would be produced in the court tomorrow and they would seek a remand.
A case has been registered against the accused under Sections 379 B (theft) and 411 (dishonestly receiving stolen property) of the Indian Penal Code at the Phase I police station.
