Panchkula, November 21
The bodies of three minor children, who were missing since Sunday, were found with bullet injuries on the head in Morni in Panchkula this morning. The three children were siblings and belonged to Sarsa village near Pehowa in Kurukshetra district.
The victims have been identified as Sameer (11), Simran (8) and Samar (4). Their bodies were found in a forest area on the Morni-Raipur Rani road.
The Kurukshetra police have arrested Jagdeep Malik, uncle of the children, for the murder. The bodies were recovered this morning when the Kurukshetra police brought Jagdeep Malik to Morni after he told them about the location where the bodies were dumped after the crime.
Karamvir Singh, sarpanch of Sarsa, while talking to mediapersons at the General Hospital, Sector 6, Panchkula, said the children had bullet injuries at the back of their head. Jagdeep Malik told the police that he first killed Sameer and Simran and dumped their bodies in the forest area. Samar was killed at a distance of around 1.5 km towards Sher Gurjra village on the Morni-Raipur Rani road, he said.
Karamvir Singh said the accused had brought these children in his Swift car and killed all of them on Sunday.
Father, uncle killed children: Grandfather
Children’s grandfather Jeeta Ram Malik said his son Sonu Malik had extra-marital relations with a Shimla-based woman. A fight had taken place in the family over the issue around six months ago and at that time family members had intervened and settled the matter. Sonu was planning to get married with the woman and saw his children as a hurdle in his marriage. Sonu Malik conspired with the children’s uncle, Jagdeep Malik, who killed these children, he said.
Police contacted family at midnight
Baldev Singh, a Zila Parishad member of Kurukshetra, said the family was informed by the police at midnight that they had got some information about the children. On Tuesday morning, they informed that the children had been killed and the bodies dumped at Morni. The police had picked up victims’ uncle Jagdeep Malik and father Sonu Malik around 10 pm on Monday night, he said.
Accused played loud music in car
Sources said accused Jagdeep Malik brought the children to Morni on Sunday. Around 1 pm, he played loud music in the car before shooting the children so that people did not hear the gunshots. He killed the children with a country-made pistol, the sources said.
