Chandigarh: Three shuttlers from Panjab University -- Kanwaldeep, Hardik and Kartik -- have been selected for the World University Games to be held in Chinese Taipei from August 19 to 30.

Kanwaldeep, Hardik and Kartik of Panjab University will compete in World University Games in Chinese Taipei.



Chandigarh: Three shuttlers from Panjab University --- Kanwaldeep, Hardik and Kartik --- have been selected for the World University Games to be held in Chinese Taipei from August 19 to 30. Local coach Narinder Singh will accompany the group as the team coach. A preparatory camp was organised at MDU Rohtak from August 3 to 17 to select the final squad for the event. — TNS

Total Tennis C’ship from Aug 26

Mohali: Swami Ram Tirath Total Tennis Championship will be held at Swmai Ram Tirath School, Phase 4, from August 26 to 27. The event will feature matches in U-10, U-12 and U-14 age groups in both boys’ and girls’ categories, the organisers said here on Friday. The interested players can send their entries to the tournament venue before August 25. — TNS

Baptist boys log 8-wicket win

Mohali: In the ongoing first Makhan Singh Verma U-14 Memorial Cricket Tournament, Chandigarh Baptist School, Sector 45, defeated Ryan International School, Sector 49, by eight wickets here. Batting first, Ryan School were bowled out for a paltry 43 in 19 overs after Sarabjot and Aniket claimed three wickets each to put a tab on the scoring. In reply, Baptist boys reached home in six overs with eight wickets to spare. Puneet score 17 runs, while Sarabjot contributed 10 runs to the chase. — TNS

Shooting meet from August 25

Chandigarh: The Chandigarh Rifle Association will organise the 42nd Chandigarh State Shooting Championship from August 25 to 27 at the Panjab University Shooting Range (for fir rifle/pistol events) and Sector 25 Shooting Ranges (for firearms). The competition will be held in .177 air rifle/pistol, .22 rifle, .22 standard pistol, .22 free pistol, .22 sports pistol and centre fire pistol events. The interested shooter can register with the organisers at the tournament venue on August 25. — TNS

Tennis tourney from Sep 23

Chandigarh: The Sunrise Tennis Academy will organise the STA-AITA Talent Series (TS-7) Tennis Tournament for U-14 and U-16 boys and girls from September 23 to 29 at the Chandigarh Club, Sector 1, the organisers said here on Saturday. The qualifying matches for the event will be played on September 23 and 24. — TNS
