Tigers defeat Assassins, register second win

NEW DELHI:North East Tigers defeated Mumbai Assassins on Saturday at the ongoing Super Boxing League (SBL) at the Siri Fort Squash & Badminton Stadium.



New Delhi, July 23 

North East Tigers defeated Mumbai Assassins on Saturday at the ongoing Super Boxing League (SBL) at the Siri Fort Squash & Badminton Stadium. Tigers defeat Assassins 12-6, register second win of SBL. 

In the first bout of the day, Asif Asad Khan beat Nanao Singh from the North East Tigers in the Feather Weight category and gave Mumbai Assassins a 3-0 lead. In the second bout of the night, it was up to Tigers' Basant Thapa to cut down the lead for his team as he faced Pawan Goyat from the Mumbai Assassins in the Welter Weight category. 

However, it was Goyat who was awarded the victory by a split decision as he helped his side take a 6-0 lead after two bouts. Assassins seemed to be in a perfect position as, in the next bout, the Pride of Mumbai Manjit Kolekar was representing them in the most anticipated bout of the league. She took on Tigers' Asha Roka in the Super Fly Weight category who defeated her to give her team three valuable points. 

The score line read 6-3 in favour of the Assassins after the first three fights with three more bouts to go. In the fourth fight of the night, Tigers' A Naoba Meitei defeated Assassins' Siddharth Verma in the Middle Weight category. The victory for Meitei equalised the scores for both the teams 6-6.

In the fifth bout, Tigers' Jitender Nandal defeated Assassins' Satish Dhull in the Super Middle Weight category and gave his side a 9-6 lead.In the deciding bout of the night, Assassins' defeated Tigers' Ashish Ahlawat in the Heavy Weight category to give his side a 12-6 victory on the night. 

Earlier, Maratha Yoddhas continued their rich vein of form as they thrashed the Bahubali Boxers 12-6 in Group B of the league— ANI
