Mohali, December 30

The Mohali police will set up over 25 check posts and 10 drunken driving nakas at busy spots and entry points from Chandigarh on the New Year’s Eve.

Mohali SSP Kuldeep Singh Chahal said check posts would be set up across the city and strict action would be taken against tipsy drivers.

“All Station House Officers (SHOs) have been instructed to set up 3-4 nakas under each police station. We will closely monitor the movement of vehicles in busy areas and markets such as Phase 7, Phase 3B2, Sohana and Sector 70 to maintain law and order,” he said.

SSP Chahal said over 1,000 police personnel would be deputed and companies of paramilitary forces would be deputed. The nakas would be set up after 8 pm on the New Year’s Eve and PCRs would continue patrolling till the morning of January 1.
