Sanaur MLA Harinderpal Singh Chandumajra took a dig at the Congress-led Punjab Government by terming the three-day session of the state Assembly not sufficient for the ‘burning’ issues of Punjab.

He said the state government was trying to run away from its responsibilities as the issues like crop residue management should be addressed on priority basis, but the time given for the session was not sufficient for proper discussion in the Assembly.

The MLA said the session should be called for minimum two weeks as there were several other important issues which had affected residents of Punjab. He said besides drug smuggling allegations against Opposition leader Sukhpal Singh Khaira, names of ruling party MLAs and leaders had appeared in the recent incidents in the state.

“The law and order situation of Punjab could be gauged from the recent attack on GM, Mining, by local goons and police personnel, who were reportedly backed by Ghanaur MLA Madan Lal Jalalpur. We will take up the issue in the Assembly and demand the resignation of all tainted MLAs of the House,” Chandumajra said.

He also attacked Khaira and demanded his resignation for his alleged involvement in the drug smuggling racket.
