Toilet blocks to be renovated at Sec 25 cremation ground

CHANDIGARH: The Chandigarh Municipal Corporation has started some works under the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities.

The Chandigarh Municipal Corporation has started some works under the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities. The first work that will be carried out under the plan is the construction and renovation of toilet blocks of the cremation ground in Sector 25 here.

Municipal Commissioner KK Yadav said during a meeting held recently it was agreed by corporate companies to provide their Corporate Social Responsibility funds (CSR) for such works of the MC and accordingly a draft MoU was prepared and discussed with a company.

He said the company would be bearing the entire capital cost i.e. Rs 40 lakh required for the work and would also operate and maintain the same at its own cost for a period of 5 years, which can be further extended on mutual consent. The MoU has been finalised for the same.

The Commissioner said basic facilities such as toilets and seating arrangement for attendants are required at the cremation ground. The existing toilet blocks are outdated and their condition is deteriorated and required repair. The scope of work includes providing facilities of bathing, etc., for men and women and also providing toilet for handicapped persons.
