Two city-based transgenders shared the life and complexities of being a third gender.

Dhanajay Chauhan, the first transgender student of Panjab University and a member of the Transgender Welfare Board, Chandigarh, and Kajal Mangalmukhi, a member of the Transgender Welfare Board and the first transgender who had filed a PIL in the Punjab and Haryana High Court in 2007 for the reservation of transgenders in government jobs, shared stories of their struggles, education and human rights.

They said how they were mocked upon and treated with contempt. They complained that there were no reservation of jobs, education and hostel facility for members of the community due to which they were going astray.

They said countries such as Canada have given equal rights to transgenders, whereas India has yet to take any step in this direction.
