Help city develop: Badnore to residents

UT Administrator VP Singh Badnore urged residents to contribute to the development of the city. At Parade  Ground, he said: “Together, we can make the city smarter.” He said best of facilities would be provided to the residents. “The initiative to supply  water round the clock has begun and the Administration will achieve the target soon,” Badnore said, enlisting the initiatives taken by the Administration in the past  one year. He said affordable houses would be provided to the people. The  main attraction of the function was the performance  by Air Force  officers.

Council for development of Morni, Pinjore  Panchkula: The Haryana Government has announced to constitute an advisory council for the development of Morni and Pinjore.

A spokesperson for the district administration said Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar would be the chairman of the council, while additional chief secretaries or principal secretaries, Revenue Departments and panchayats, would be its vice-chairman. “The Divisional Commissioner, Ambala, will be its senior member and the DC, Panchkula, ex-officio member.  Morni’s Block Development and Panchayat Officer and Sub-Divisional Officer will serve as the member secretary of the council,” the spokesperson said. 

Drenched in patriotism 

Ropar: Punjab Deputy Speaker Ajaib Singh Bhatti unfurled the Tricolour during a district-level function at Nehru Stadium on Tuesday. He inspected the Guard of Honour. Punjab Police personnel, Punjab Home Guards jawans, NCC cadets and other contingents held a march past. Students from various schools presented a colourful patriotic cultural programme. Bhatti paid homage to martyrs. People from different walks of life, freedom fighters and their kin were honoured on the day. The Speaker also distributed sewing machines among the needy on behalf of the Red Cross Society.

Kharar: At a function held in Anaj Mandi, Kharar SDM Amninder Kaur unfurled the National Flag. A colourful cultural programme among other activities was presented to mark the day. 

Mohali to be open defecation-free by Oct 2: DC

Mohali: Mohali Deputy Commissioner Gurpreet Kaur Sapra hoisted the Tricolour at Government College, Phase VI, on Tuesday. The DC said the people of Punjab had a major role to play in the development of the country. She said a plan to develop Mohali district would be chalked out soon. The district would be made open defecation-free by October 2, she added. Earlier, the DC, along with Mohali SSP Kuldeep Singh Chahal and Additional Deputy Commissioner Charandev Singh Mann, inspected the guard of honour. A cultural programme was also held. MLA Balbir Singh Sidhu was also present.

Remembering the bravehearts

Chandigarh: The CSIO celebrated the 71st Independence Day with much fanfare. Its director Prof RK Sinha unfurled the National Flag in the presence of a large number of CSIO staff members and their families. Professor Sinha said: “It’s the time to remember the selfless service of those who gave us the gift of freedom.”
