Two-day Smart City Conclave concludes

CHANDIGARH: The two-day Smart City Conclave, organised by Elets Technomedia Private limited and the Chandigarh Municipal Corporation, concluded today.

The two-day Smart City Conclave, organised by Elets Technomedia Private limited and the Chandigarh Municipal Corporation, concluded today. Various components of smart cities such as an effective waste management, IT and e-governance, security, smart healthcare, skill development, international experience and new innovations such as the use of big data and the Internet of Things (IOT) were discussed.

Souvik Goswami, senior assistant editor, Elets Technomedia Private Limited, said, “The conclave is an attempt to bring together all stakeholders to share ideas on transforming urban spaces into smart cities.”

“The conference will help create knowledge about the smart city ecosystem,” he added. The event saw the participation of delegates from France, European Union and Nepal, who shared their views on the smart city infrastructure in their respective nations.

The conference culminated with an award ceremony. George Kuruvilla, CMD, BECIL, who won the award for the best PSU for the smart city ecosystem said, “Besides broadcasting, which is our core area, we have now diversified into the digital space, e-governance and CCTV surveillance. We are now present in all technologies, including command and control systems.”

Deepa Joshi, director and co-founder of Convexicon Software Solutions India Private Limited, that took home the award for innovative initiatives in waste management, said, “Using GPS and GIS, we track the location of corporation vehicles when they dump garbage and point out any oversight.”

Narendra Joshi, director, Convexicon Software Solutions India Private Limited, said, “We take care of the monitoring of garbage collection, cleaning and transport vehicles of the corporation. We use the GPS technology to see if any bins have been left uncovered. We are doing projects in South Delhi and Hyderabad.”
